It is quite indispensable to be in posession of a valid passport, but you do
not need a visa nor any kind of vaccination.
The native language is Creole but almost everyone speaks English or French.
Car Hire is the best way to get around. All you need is the official driving
licence of your own country and you drive on the left.
Buses available on Mahé and Praslin. Regular
ferry and catamaran service operates between Mahé, Praslin and La Digue.
You get between 9 Rupees to 8.5 Rupee to the £1. The exchange rate
fluctuates everyday.
All credit Cards (American Express, Visa, Dinners) and travellers cheques
are accepted in practically all hotels.
Banks are open between 8.30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday. Special counters
at the airport for arrivals and departures.
I suggest you leave all valuables and passport hidden in the house. Carry
only such cash as necessary when you go to the beach.
