It is quite indispensable to be in posession of a valid passport, but you do not need a visa nor any kind of vaccination.

Language
The native language is Creole but almost everyone speaks English or French.

Transport
Car Hire is the best way to get around. All you need is the official driving licence of your own country and you drive on the left.

Public Transport
Buses available on Mahe and Pralin between S.Joan to Zping. Regular ferry and catamaran service operates between Mahe, Pralin and La Dique.

Money
You get between 9 Rupees to 8.5 Rupee in £1. The exchange rate fluctuates everyday.

Bureau de Change
All credit Cards (American Express, Visa, Dinners) and travellers cheques are accepted in practically all hotels.
Banks are open between 8.30am and 3.30pm Monday to Friday. Special counters at the airport for arrivals and departures.

Safety and Security
I suggest you leave all valuables and passport hidden in the house. Carry only such cash as necessary when you go to the beach.
